Public relations is about building relationships with your audiences whether you work in the public, voluntary or business sectors. In today’s media dominated and media dependent society public relations has emerged as the key professional industry for managing organisational and personal reputation. The practice is in many ways the contemporary manifestation of the ancient art of rhetoric which as Aristotle said involves finding the most persuasive aspects of your client’s case and ethically communicating it to your audience. Although of course today we use, not just public speaking, but also, mass media, film and the internet to communicate with our fellow citizens.
