Social justice, poverty and social exclusion, social security particularly social security fraud and benefits for sickness and disability, citizenship, social and economic rights, criminal justice
Transitions in postcolonial societies, postcolonial legal theory, feminist legal theory, minority rights, law of international organizations, issues of collective security and economic, social and cultural rights. It is expected that applications will be in the region of 2,000 words.
Emergency powers, post-conflict legal reforms, transitional justice, gender and post conflict societies, sexual violence and armed conflict, humanitarian law issues generally framed.
My main interests include gender, transitional justice, feminist perspectives on international law and feminist engagement with law. My research focuses on domestic and transnational mobilization by women that engages . I have a regional interest in Latin America and Northern Ireland, though also undertake comparative work from a broader range of cases. I would welcome proposals to supervise PhD projects on topics such as:
Transitional justice (prosecutions, truth commissions, reparations, institutional reform) as vehicles for transforming gender relations in postconflict societies
Domestic implementation of international law concerning women in conflict / postconflict societies
Women and truth commissions
Women’s social mobilization and international law
State responsibility for violations of women’s human rights in times of conflict
Intellectual property law & policy; digital copyrights; patents policy; computer security law & policy; internet law & policy; biosecurity and the regulation of genetically modified organisms.
Anthropology and Sociology of Law; Political Violence and Truth Recovery in Post-Conflict Societies; Philosophy and History of Human Rights; Critical Legal and Social Theory
