Prof Fionnuala Ni Aolain

My main interests include gender, transitional justice, feminist perspectives on international law and feminist engagement with law. My research focuses on domestic and transnational mobilization by women that engages . I have a regional interest in Latin America and Northern Ireland, though also undertake comparative work from a broader range of cases. I would welcome proposals to supervise PhD projects on topics such as:

  1. Transitional justice (prosecutions, truth commissions, reparations, institutional reform) as vehicles for transforming gender relations in postconflict societies

  2. Domestic implementation of international law concerning women in conflict / postconflict societies

  3. Women and truth commissions

  4. Women’s social mobilization and international law

  5. State responsibility for violations of women’s human rights in times of conflict
