Diane Nixon read Law at Wadham College, Oxford and studied the postgraduate Special Diploma in Social Studies at Keble College. She completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, where she received a Very Competent grade. She was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in October 1997, having been awarded a Harmsworth Scholarship by the Middle Temple. She undertook pupillage at Hardwicke Building (The Chambers of Nigel Jones QC), Lincoln’s Inn, London and gained experience in all areas including Commercial, Chancery, Property, Family and Criminal Law. She obtained tenancy at 9 King’s Bench Walk, Temple, London and practised there until 2002, when she moved to Sovereign Chambers, Leeds, from where she still practises. The focus of her professional practice is criminal defence. She specialises in sexual offences and confiscation matters and has particular experience in dealing with young offenders. She also undertakes general civil litigation.
